Submitted by Community Foundation of South Puget Sound

Community Foundation of South Puget Sound is launching two opportunities to support nonprofits across Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties. Starting on August 4, nonprofits can apply for Community Grants, the Foundation’s longstanding grant program, and register to participate in Give Local 2025, our region’s beloved giving event, which raised over $1 million for local causes last year.

These two opportunities are about investing in nonprofit organizations that care for our communities year-round and elevating the people, community needs, and creativity that strengthen our region for everyone.

Now Accepting Applications for Community Grants

The Community Foundation’s Community Grants program provides unrestricted funding to help nonprofits respond to changing needs and advance their missions. This program supports a wide range of organizations working to improve the social, health, and environmental well-being of the South Sound.

Over the past two years, the Foundation has awarded small, responsive grants to more than 120 nonprofits through this program. Community Grants are a key part of the Foundation’s broader grantmaking strategy—one that prioritizes relationship-building and deepening understanding of local needs and opportunities.

This year’s application marks the opening of a new two-year grant cycle, continuing the Foundation’s commitment to trust-based philanthropy and responsive community investment.

Application Period: August 4 – August 29, 2025
Grant Size: Varies; most awards range between $1,500 and $7,500
Eligibility: Open to nonprofits and fiscally sponsored groups serving Lewis, Mason, and Thurston counties

Nonprofit Registration for Give Local 2025 is Open

Give Local South Puget Sound is the region’s beloved online giving campaign—a time when community members come together to support the causes they care about most. In 2024, more than 2,000 individuals rallied around 142 participating nonprofits, raising $1.18 million to fuel local missions, spread awareness, and grow volunteer networks.

The 2025 campaign marks the ninth annual Give Local, running from November 10 –21. This two-week celebration of generosity is powered by collaboration—months of preparation where nonprofit teams work closely with the Community Foundation and our platform partner, Mightycause, to build campaign pages, engage supporters, and set meaningful fundraising goals.

To kick things off, the Foundation is hosting a Nonprofit Network Call on August 7 at 11:00 AM (via Zoom). This optional session is a chance for nonprofit teams to share what support they need for this year’s campaign, helping us tailor tools and resources for success. Plus, nonprofits that register between August 4–31 will be entered into a raffle to win $100—four winners will be randomly selected.

  • Early Bird: August 4 – September 15
  • Regular: September 16 – October 13
