Olympia 55+ Apartments Offers Unique Living With Monthly Social Events

An ever-popular event for many residents of Harbor Heights are the monthly Wine Nights, where residents gather on the third floor, in and around Harbor Heights’ Maritime Bar and Fireplace Lounge, to enjoy a spread of beverages, light bites and sweet treats. With their favorite glass of pinot or chardonnay in hand, residents can enjoy company and conversation with their neighbors.

Jo has been a resident of Harbor Heights for more than three years and enjoys many activities available to residents, including a morning coffee group, bingo and mahjong. In addition to Wine Night, Jo is also a regular attendee of monthly resident potlucks hosted at Harbor Heights and serves on the potluck committee.

Maia and John have been residents of Harbor Heights for more than two years and their love of the community has only continued to grow over time. The Olympia apartment complex is unique, with a steady stream of in-house activities and clubs that are available to all residents. This includes a range of spaces where residents can gather to play card games like poker or bridge. The game room features a poker table and space for other tabletop games. Maia is part of another resident card game group, Hand and Foot, that meets on Monday afternoons.

The opportunity for social connection and active living was a contributing factor for Maia and John when choosing to move into an apartment community like Harbor Heights. An avid puzzle enthusiast, Maia also helps to set up different tabletop puzzles in the Fireplace Lounge and activity room for residents to solve together. John is a pianist who volunteers his skill set for musical programming at the Olympia Senior Center, located just a few blocks away.

Sally has been a resident of Harbor Heights for more than four years and recently lost her husband of many decades. Fellow neighbors and residents of Harbor Heights have served as a great support system during this time, including providing encouragement and checking in at regular intervals. As Sally remembers the times she shared with her husband over the years, she is also looking ahead to what an independent lifestyle might look like while living at Harbor Heights. 

Movie Nights generally take place twice a week at Harbor Heights’ in-house movie theater, with special viewing parties for major sporting events. Harbor Heights’ Sky Terrace is home to cozy outdoor seating and fire bowls that overlook Olympia’s Percival Landing, Budd Inlet and the Olympic Mountain Range. The Sky Terrace also serves as an outdoor gathering space in the summer months, including during the Capital Lakefair Fireworks each July, and each August is a special resident event, complete with heavy hors d’oeuvres, and a DJ and dancing. This year is especially special as it is Harbor Heights 5th Birthday Celebration!

Residents of Harbor Heights 55+ Apartments Can Easily Stay Connected in the Heart of Olympia

Harbor Heights’ proximity to downtown Olympia allows for social connection, not only within its walls, but also in the greater community. Harbor Heights has a prime location in downtown Olympia, just steps away from Olympia’s waterfront and Port Plaza. Residents can easily stay active through daily strolls and dog walks, with nearby access to local parks and green spaces, including Percival Landing, the Billy Frank Jr. Trail and Heritage Park at Capitol Lake.

For more directed cardio and strength training, Harbor Heights has an in-house gym with equipment as well as Pilates classes that are available every other week. Within a short drive is also the Briggs Community YMCA and The Valley Athletic Club, which offer lap swimming and aquatic fitness classes, and pickleball Courts.

Harbor Heights is also just down the street from the Olympia Senior Center, which offers programming like Woodcarving, Yarn Magic and Reader’s Theater Script Readings and Discussion. Harbor Heights is also a short walk from the recently-opened Olympia Arts & Heritage Alliance Museum, which showcases a rotating selection of artists and historical displays, with a regional focus.

Residents can catch live entertainment at venues and theater groups like The Washington Center for the Performing Arts and Harlequin Productions. Harbor Heights residents also have access to unique dining and shopping at the Olympia Farmers Market and the 222 Market.
