The Artesians began the season with a commanding 7-0-0 record and secured a #3 national ranking going into the final week of USL W League division play. That ranking and winning ways hit a roadblock in the form of two back-to-back losses to West Seattle and Salmon Bay which has created a NW Division Title Match at the Regional Athletic Complex Friday, June 27, 2025, with a kickoff at 7 p.m.

The USL W team had been previously undefeated in regular season play for 2.5 years, a record for USL nationwide soccer.  FC Olympia has since their 2023 inaugural USL W year clinched the national playoffs.

The Contenders?

Salmon Bay FC (Seattle) versus hometown path to pro club FC Olympia “Artesians. Both have enough remaining points to take a first place lead by the end of the weekend in NW Division play making this a “must-win match” for Salmon Bay and a positive point fixture result needed for FC Olympia to make the National Playoff (draw or win needed). Last place Bigfoot FC is set to play Salmon Bay Sunday who could also play spoiler but a win nonetheless is needed for Salmon Bay FC.

FC Olympia Players to Watch Friday June 27

Notable performances this season are USL W leading Ginny Lackey (10 goals), from England and grew up in the Manchester City youth, women’s soccer program for 12 years and plays NCAA division one soccer in the states for James Madison University.

Faith Nguyen, goalkeeper who won an NCAA national title at UCLA is now at Texas Tech and has only given up 3 goals all season.

Sunny Fontes, UCLA National Title holder and United States U17 National Team Goal Record Holder. A skilled attacking midfielder that is clever on the ball creating offensive goals via through balls to teammates and also incredible dribbling skills to make her own chances in the final third.

Tickets for the match are free for kid’s 12 & under while general admission is $15. All proceeds goes towards field rentals, travel, apparel and equipment each season.

Special Activities for Friday Nights Title Match

  • The match will feature a Happy Hour Beer Garden which starts at 6 p.m. This is a special 1-hour early access to watch warmups and get 15% off beer specials.
  • Kid’s and families can also meet the teams postgame for autographs and photos on the field.
  • There will also be a halftime kid’s and adult soccer skills challenge which will include distance shots, crossbar challenge and trivia.
  • $500 in gift cards have been donated to the Oly Soccer Foundation from Well 80 Brewhouse, Farrelli’s Pizza, Ember Goods, Casa Mia Italian Restaurants and Charro Mexican Restaurant for a special fan surprise Friday night.
  • Olympia Orthopaedic Associates is the presenting sponsor of the match and will be on hand meeting folks.
  • All FC Olympia Replica Jerseys will be 10% off as well as special raffles for fans that come to the game.
  • Lawn Chairs, Umbrellas, Pop up Tents (top of hill only) are allowed in the venue. Bleacher seating is first come first serve.
