The Evergreen State College’s River Scheuerell Named Academic All-District

River Scheuerell (So., Sr. academically) from The Evergreen State College has been named Academic All-District on the NAIA Men’s Track& Field/Cross Country Team for the 2024-25 academic year as announced by the College Sports Communicators (CSC). Scheuerell competed on the Evergreen cross country and track and field teams.

CSC Academic All-District honorees needed a 3.5 cumulative grade point average or higher and were required to be at least a sophomore academically and in terms of eligibility. In addition, qualifying student-athletes in NAIA track and field or cross country must have placed in the top 25 of a conference individual event during the academic year. Evergreen does not give letter grades, but Scheuerell’s academic accomplishments were converted to a 4.0 GPA scale.

Scheuerell graduated from Evergreen in 2024 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in organization leadership and audio engineering and a Bachelor of Science degree in environmental sciences and applied mathematics. As a post-baccalaureate student, he is studying music and audio productions. Scheuerell is from Olympia, where he attended Olympia Regional Learning Academy.

Earlier this year, he was chosen as a Daktronics NAIA Scholar-Athlete in track and field. He was named Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference in cross country and track and field in 2023-24 and 2024-25.

In 2023-24, Scheuerell qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track and Field Championships in the 5,000-meter race walk. While qualifying for the national meet, he set the Evergreen record of 24:31.93. This year, he placed third in the 5,000-meter race walk at the 2025 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships to earn All-Conference honors with a time of 26:19.32. He competed for the Geoducks at the and 2023 and 2024 CCC Cross Country Championships.
