Do you live in Lacey? If so, the Lacey City Council wants to hear from you! From May 21 through June 30, 2025, community members are invited to take part in the 2025 National Community Survey – a great opportunity to help shape the future of the city you call home.
The Lacey City Council is committed to meaningful community engagement and truly values public input. That’s why they encourage as many people as possible to participate.
“Community feedback plays a crucial role in shaping Council priorities,” says Mayor Andy Ryder. “We use this information to help decide what projects to fund, which services to expand, remove, or improve, and how to best reflect the needs of our community members. The more people who take the survey, the more accurate the data, so I’m counting on you to help us improve our city, together.”

How to Take Lacey’s Community Survey
The City of Lacey has partnered with the National Research Center at Polco (Polco) to conduct the survey. Polco conducts the same survey across the nation, which means the City can compare itself to other similar communities and track its own progress over time.
In mid-May, Polco will send a postcard to 3,000 Lacey residents inviting them to take the initial online survey. Paper copies will also be available upon request.
If you do not receive a postcard, you can still take the survey. There will be an open period in the last half of June where all community members can participate. To sign up for the open period, create a profile on Polco’s website at any time. Polco will send out a notice when the City of Lacey’s survey is available to all community members. “You’ll be able to become a member of Lacey’s digital sounding board,” Rick Walk, city manager, explains.
Lacey’s Online Survey Will Help Shape Future Projects and Planning
Although the City of Lacey has conducted several community surveys over the years on various topics, this new survey will be broader. It will touch on all aspects of the City, including the economy, mobility, community design, utilities, safety, natural environment, inclusivity, engagement, and other elements of Lacey’s overall livability, shares Walk.
“The survey results will help inform City decisions in a variety of ways, from future community planning, funding priorities, changes in services, zoning, infrastructure, and other areas,” Walk adds. “It will also allow the City to see what matters most to the residents, where we can improve, and what we are already doing well.”
We all have ideas about improving the city we love and call home. Now it’s your chance to have those ideas heard.
“We strongly encourage all residents to take the survey,” shares Mayor Ryder. “Community input is at the heart of everything we do in Lacey. We believe the best decisions are made when we listen to and work alongside our community members. Whether it’s planning a new park, updating city services, or shaping long-term goals, we value every voice and strive to create a city that reflects the needs and values of the people who call Lacey home.”
This is an opportunity for everyone in the community to share their thoughts and help shape Lacey’s future. Sign up on Polco today!
