Did you know we have a place right here in Olympia where you can grab a bite to eat and hang out with friends for as long as you like? Watch the newest blockbuster, check out a book, challenge for your friends to target practice or shop the latest trends—all under one roof? Since the 1970s, the Capital Mall has been the heart of our community.

All-Weather Activities at the Capital Mall

Even if you are not a big shopper, there are plenty of reasons to visit the Capital Mall! See who is the sharpest shooter at the Airsoft Challenge range. Play individually or against your friends and see who can hit all the targets. The winner gets a prize. They also host birthday parties with small tournaments included in the packages.

If getting active is your speed, sign up to be a mall walker and get your steps in before the mall opens. Doesn’t matter if it’s raining, snowing or blistering hot outside, it’s always the perfect temperature to walk the mall! And don’t forget they are dog friendly, so bring Fido too!

Mondays are free Zumba Gold from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m., a great way to get exercise and meet new people. And, if you are looking for something more, check out Rising Tide Karate, with classes for kids and adults.

Or maybe you just want to relax. That’s easy at the Capital Mall too! Head to Cinemark to chill with a bucket of popcorn and the latest flick—perfect for those hot summer days or raining winter nights!—or head to Timberland Regional Library right inside the mall and find a book to read.

From Local Businesses to Big Brands, Capital Mall Supports Our Community

If your last memory of a mall is from the 1990s, you probably assume it full of big-box and corporate stores. However, Capital Mall has plenty of small, locally-owned businesses that are great to support. Check out Game Freaks for all your board and tabletop gaming needs; Sub-Zero Freeze Dried Candy for a mid-shopping pick-me-up; Design Customs for personalized items for gifts or business; and more!

“Shopping at Capital Mall is really supporting the community,” shares Hope Montag, “The Library is a fantastic example of ways to show up and be present in the community that doesn’t require you to actually shop. Of course, we are a business and want people to shop, but we really want people to have a sense of ownership and belonging around Capital Mall and just be there for the community.”

And while it may not seem like it, even shopping at the big box stores—which always have the latest trends and great sales, by the way—supports your neighbors who work at them! Plus they bring back those memories of shopping with your parents—remember when they would give you some cash, drop you at the mall and tell you, “have fun, be right back here at 4 p.m. for pick up,” because back then, we didn’t have cell phones? Give your kids the same memories to cherish at Capital Mall.

You can drop your computer off for a clean-up at Best Buy and walk the mall while they are getting rid of all those pesky temporary files that bog it down and check for viruses.

We are entering the “season of events,” as we celebrate Mother’s Day, Memorial Day camping trips, Father’s Day, Graduations, Fourth of July and more. You can be ready for any occasion with a trip to Capital Mall. Macy’s, JCPenney and Windsor are just a few places to find the perfect outfit of your events. And REI is right there to make sure your Memorial Day campout is a success! And of course, gifts for Moms, Dads and Grads are easy to find with such a wide range of stores.

It’s time to rediscover community at the Capital Mall. No matter the weather, it’s always nice inside!
