Tumwater School District Notice of Board Vacancy

The Tumwater School District has a vacancy on the Board of Directors due to the resignation of a board member for Director District 3.  The Board of Directors is taking nominations and applications for the opportunity to fill this position until the next election cycle in 2025.  The applicant will be chosen by vote of the remaining Board directors.  If interested, please pick up an application packet at the Tumwater School District Office located at 621 Linwood Avenue SW Tumwater, WA 98512 or on our website. Nominations are due by July 12, 2024 and applications are due by July 26, 2024.  Either can be turned in to the Superintendent’s Office (attention Becky Parsons) by 4:00 p.m.

The description of Director District 3 is as follows:

• Starting at the intersection of northeastern school district boundary and Henderson Blvd SE
• Southerly on Henderson Blvd to Hwy 99 SE
• Southeast on Hwy 99 SE to the north/south centerline of Section 13, Township 17, Range 02W
• South on the said centerline to 93^rd Ave SE
• West on 93^rd Ave SE to Hart Rd SE
• South on Hart Rd SE to 100^th Ave SE
• West on 100^th Ave SE to Tilley Rd S
• South on Tilley Rd S to Salmon Creek
• Westerly on Salmon Creek to I-5
• Northerly on I-5 to Israel Rd SW
• West on Israel Rd SW to Littlerock Rd SW
• Northwest on Littlerock Rd SW to the southernmost point of the 2020 Census Block 530670109202009
• Northwest on the southern border of said block to the 2020 Census Block 530670109201014
• Clockwise on the said block to Schoth St SW
• Easterly and northerly on Schoth St SW to Trosper Rd SW
• East on Trosper Rd SW to I-5
• Northerly on I-5 the school district boundary
• Clockwise on the school district boundary to the point of the beginning

Applicants will be asked to provide a brief biographical sketch of their background and experiences which would be beneficial to the Tumwater School District and the Tumwater community.

Applicants will also be asked to describe the major strengths of the District as well as the challenges the District faces from their perspective.
