As to-do lists grow longer and the seasonal hustle and bustle gets into full swing, Bayview Thriftway shoppers can gather for additional holiday fun, while also giving back to the community through their annual bowl to win a turkey event on Saturday, November 18, 2023. As the Bayview Thriftway temporarily transforms into a bowling alley, shoppers can go for a strike or spare and possibly win big ahead of the holidays.

Bowl for a Free Turkey at Bayview Thriftway

Bowling for a turkey has grown into a tradition for Bayview Thriftway. It’s a way for the owners to give thanks to their customers and help community members in need this holiday season. To participate in the turkey-bowling festivities, contestants should bring a non-perishable food item for donation to the Thurston County Food Bank. “It is fun,” says Ashley Paterson, marketing director for Stormans. “It’s something that we try to do every year to get people excited about the holidays and to donate to those that are in need.”

The event begins at 11 a.m. on November 18, 2023, and runs until all of the prizes have been distributed. No prior registration is required, but there is a limit of one prize per family so the cheer can be spread to more people!

Once a participant has dropped off their non-perishable food donation into the allotted shopping cart, they are welcome to get in line for their turn to bowl. An aisle of the Bayview Thriftway will be repurposed into a bowling lane, complete with real bowling pins! Those who bowl a strike will win a free turkey and participants who bowl a spare will win a free bag of groceries. Paterson says this event is a bit of family-friendly fun, while also helping community members in need during the holidays.

“It’s right before Thanksgiving and it’s a fun event,” says Paterson. “And to be able to give back during the start of the holiday season is something that we really try to encourage our customers to do.”
