The Miss Washington Scholarship Organization (MWSO) is thrilled to kick off their 2023 competition events starting today, June 21 in partnership with the City of Olympia and Experience Olympia & Beyond, Thurston County’s Visitor and Convention Bureau.
The competitions continue the 102-year legacy of the Miss America Organization of preparing great women for the world and preparing the world for great women.
Miss Washington Week kicks off Sunday, June 25 with an arrival ceremony and luncheon at The Olympia Hotel at Capitol Lake, followed by appearances of all 24 delegates and the current Miss Washington, Regan Gallo, throughout the week. Appearances include an autograph signing in Center Court and Ben Bridge Jewelers at Capital Mall on Monday, June 26 and a visit to the Olympia Farmers Market on Saturday, July 1. The competition begins on Friday, June 30th with a night of preliminaries, with the crowning of Miss Washington 2023 set for Saturday July 1.
Over $200,000 in scholarships, cash and sponsorships will be awarded. Miss Washington 2023 will compete for the job of Miss America 2024 in January.
Miss Washington’s Teen weekend is June 21-24, where 24 teens from across the state compete for scholarships, sponsorships, and cash awards totaling over $150,000. Miss Washington’s Teen 2023 will go on to compete for Miss America’s Teen in January 2024.
Both competitions, held at the Capital High School Performing Arts Center, will continue to highlight a diverse group of young students and professionals who are advancing the message of female strength, independence, and empowerment through their efforts in the areas of scholarship, talent, and community service.
“I am thrilled to have Olympia as our host city and I’m looking forward to all the opportunities we will have to showcase the brightest young women from our great state and our beautiful capital city, across the nation,” MWSO Executive Director Peggy Miller said.
Olympia’s diverse attractions, shopping, dining, and accommodations will be enjoyed by visitors from across the state who support the 48 teens and women competing for the titles of Miss Washington’s Teen and Miss Washington 2023.
“We are excited to be partnering with the Miss Washington Scholarship Organization to bring these individuals and their families to the Olympia region,” Experience Olympia & Beyond Vice President of Sales & Development Jeff Bowe said. “Events like these are good business for our hotels, restaurants, shops, and attractions – but even more impactful than that is what the candidates give back to our communities.”
Tickets and a live stream option are available at the Miss Washington website.
