The Washington Center continues the 22-23 Season with the return of “Ladies of Laughter,” Los Lobos and “Ray On My Mind.”
March 4 at 7 p.m. Olympia Dance Festival with guest artist Jason Rodgers. The 2023 Olympia Dance Festival features 17 dance groups from throughout Western Washington, plus guest artist Jason Rodgers, a renowned tap dancer who has been seen on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars”, the North American tour of the Broadway musical “Bring in Da Noise, Bring in Da Funk”, the Disney Channel, and more. The program includes ballet, contemporary, hip-hop, tap, jazz, Irish dance, Chinese dance, ballroom, and musical theatre. The show also features a special guest appearance by Teaching Artists from Student Orchestras of Greater Olympia – Cameron May, conductor.
March 10 at 7:30 p.m. “Ladies of Laughter” returns! The “Ladies of Laughter” comedy event has been a patron favorite with rave reviews! Expect big laughs, big fun, and a memorable night out. Kelly MacFarland will be performing this year. This 2016 Ladies of Laughter Professional winner is sure to captivate with her charm and refreshing yet playful point of view. Kelly tours across the country, is an accomplished improviser and is currently writing a clever collection of short stories. Kelly will be joined by Alycia Cooper who was the 2014 Ladies of Laughter Professional winner. Alycia is a favorite at clubs and casinos all across America and has appeared on “America’s Got Talent,” and “Nick’s Mom’s Night Out.” Also in the lineup is Pacific Northwest comedian Meaghan Gross. Meaghan has performed throughout the Northwest and is known for her brilliant writing and deadpan delivery.
March 16 at 7:30 p.m. Comedy Underground featuring Tyrone Hawkins. Comedy Underground is back to make you laugh. This time we welcome top 5 finalist at the San Francisco International, Seattle International and Aspen Comedy Festival, Tyrone Hawkins. Tyrone has performed on stages all over the world and appeared in two award-winning “Doritos Super Bowl©” commercials. It’s nonstop laughter every time he grabs a microphone as he tricks you into laughing at his serious demeanor. You won’t be disappointed with jokes from this 5-star Comedy General! Recommended for ages 18+.
March 23 at 7:30 p.m. Los Lobos! Grammy-winning Los Lobos returns with special Guest Gaby Moreno! Over the last five decades, the East L.A.-bred band has made an indelible mark on music history by exploring an enormous diversity of genres—rock-and-roll and R&B, surf music and soul, mariachi and música norteña, punk rock and country—and building a boldly unpredictable sound all their own. Gaby Moreno’s original blend of jazz, soul, blues and 1960s rock has earned her the respect and appreciation of audiences in Latin America, Europe and U.S.
March 26 at 2 p.m. “Ray On My Mind, A Tribute to Ray Charles.” This concert/theater work brings the music and the story of the great Ray Charles to vivid life! Portraying Ray, master pianist/vocalist, Kenny Brawner leads his 11-piece orchestra and three sultry vocalists (a la the Raelettees), performing this American legend’s most popular hits.
