The Salvation Army is calling on all communities to find a way to donate more toys and give to the virtual Northwest Red Kettle to meet the urgent needs of thousands of families who have not recovered from the pandemic and other financial hardships during the past year.

“There are many reasons why both financial and toy donations are down this year, not the least of which is likely high inflation and concerns about employment in the future,” noted Colonel Cindy Foley of the NW Salvation Army Division. “We are actually trying to provide food, shelter, toys and clothing to double the number of families we served last Christmas, and in the midst of the growing need we are seeing fewer people donating at our virtual and physical kettles,” observed Foley. Bell ringers are also needed to staff the iconic physical red kettles that are placed across the region at supporting businesses. Volunteers and kettle worker numbers are also down across the division: volunteer or work as a bell ringer by clicking here click here.

“The situation is dire, and we are asking our generous supporters in the region to donate to the virtual Northwest Red Kettle as well as make donations at every physical kettle in whatever way you can”, says Colonel Cindy Foley, Divisional Commander of The Salvation Army Northwest Division.

The Salvation Army receives about 75 percent of its total annual donations during November and December. The community’s financial support and kindness during the holidays enables The Salvation Army to assist more than 500,000 people in the Northwest Division throughout the year. This year we are depending on you to help those in need. By donating to The Salvation Army, you ensure your most vulnerable neighbors feel the Love Beyond this Christmas season.
