The Washington Center is happy to welcome Tineke Raak, as the new Director of Marketing and Sales and Vanessa Nelson as the new Executive Assistant/Office Manager.

Tineke brings with her a wealth of experience in performing arts marketing and management. She has a Master’s Degree in Arts Administration from Goucher College in Baltimore. She has had the opportunity to work with performing arts organizations in Washington, Alaska, Chicago and California and is currently on the Board of the Lakewood Playhouse. In addition to non-profit groups, Tineke also worked as the Business Manager for Blue Man Group in Chicago. While in Chicago, Tineke enjoyed working as a judge for the Jeff Awards which recognize excellence in Chicago Theatre. Most recently, Tineke has been doing some producing work with Ripple Theatre Project. Her latest project was the DuPont Performing Arts Walk in August. Tineke is very excited to join the team at The Washington Center. “It has been a challenging year but I am eager to get back to the work of live events,” says Tineke. “Our season is fantastic and I am so excited to gather to see live performances again.”

Vanessa is thrilled to be working at The Washington Center for the Performing Arts as the Office Manager and Executive Assistant. Vanessa has grown up dancing and writing. She has performed on stage and attended many ballets at the Center. For the last eleven years she has worked in the telecom industry. Vanessa could not be more thrilled to transition to a role supporting the arts and working in the industry where her passion lives. Vanessa says, “Being back in the Center is breathtaking and I’m so happy to be here behind the scenes.”

The Washington Center for the Performing Arts is a not-for-profit performance venue with a mission to inspire audiences and artists of all ages through live performances, enriching the vibrancy of our community.
