The Lacey Police Chief oversees a department of 77 employees, including 61 commissioned officers. In addition, this position is accountable for an approximately $13,600,000 annual budget. The Police Chief is responsible for public safety services and active crime prevention programs for the benefit of Lacey residents and businesses.
For the recruitment, the City of Lacey hired Public Sector Search & Consulting to conduct a national search following Chief Ken Semko’s retirement in April 2020. The successful candidate will be the eighth Chief in the department’s 54-year history. The Police Chief is a key member of the executive team and is hired by and reports directly to the Lacey City Manager.
