The South Puget Sound Community College (SPSCC) Board of Trustees passed a resolution on January 12 to name the SPSCC executive boardroom, located on the Olympia Campus, the Cindy K. Hough Boardroom. Hough has served on the SPSCC Foundation Board since its inception in 1982 and is one of only two original members who continue to serve.
Throughout her years of service and leadership, Hough has made immeasurable contributions to the college, the SPSCC Foundation, and the Washington community and technical colleges system. In her tenure, Hough served as the SPSCC Board of Trustees Chair, chair of the Foundation governance committee, and established the Hough Helping Hands Scholarship, which provides tuition assistance for students who don’t have parental financial help. Hough remains a dedicated and active member of the Foundation Board.
After completing her service as a trustee, Hough was recruited by the State Board for Community and Technical Colleges to serve as the Legislative Liaison and director of the Association of College Trustees. She provided training for trustees from the 34 community and technical colleges across the state. In addition to this work, she was selected to oversee the professional development for aspiring senior college administrators and college presidents. After nearly 40 years of leading and participating in meetings in the boardroom, the college leadership felt this naming was a fitting tribute for Hough.
