The Olympia Downtown Alliance regrets to announce that they are canceling what would be the 41st season of Music in the Park, the annual free concert series that takes place in July and August at Sylvester Park.

The announcement comes after event organizers learned the Department of Enterprise Services will not issue permits for the use of Sylvester Park until early June due to the COVID-19 Pandemic.

“It was a difficult decision to cancel the event, but we are exploring alternative ways to bring live music to the community,” said Todd Cutts, Executive Director of the Olympia Downtown Alliance.

The Olympia Downtown Alliance is working on a downtown street festival that will include live music, activities for kids and families, participation from local community groups, and a beer garden every Saturday from July 10 to August 28.

“Our community is passionate about our Downtown, and we’re all hungry for one-of-a-kind experiences to enjoy in a safe and relaxed environment. We believe our summer Saturday street festival will offer a laid-back vibe with live music from local artists, space for tasting our local handcrafted ales and a venue to explore what’s new from community groups, makers and artists,” said Cutts.

Cutts says the Olympia Downtown Alliance is still working out the details of the summer series and will make further announcements soon.
