The North Thurston High School boys and girls wrestling teams defeated Timberline High School boys and girls teams Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Timberline High School with a score of 58-22 in the boys events and 36-6 in the girls matches. The Rams had pins from Bruce Price, Diego Serna, Luke Howell, Bitna White, Maritonie Jamarolin and Charlize Pasco. Timberline had pin victories from Grady Broumley, Jaron Johnson and Sophia Owsley at the 140-pound girls match.

North Thurston High School Coach Josh Sneva was thrilled with his team’s performance. “I have a great set of seniors,” he said. “Joey Oliver has put in a full four years and is our captain and has a great work ethic and just has been a great help for our team. It has been a great season and our team is a mix of some kids just trying out the sport and then a core group of some seniors that are giving it their ‘last hurrah’ so to speak.”

Timberline Head Coach David Gray was optimistic about his team of around 20 girl and boy wrestlers. “We are really young and it is a learning experience for our team this year in this short season we have,” Gray stated. “Our goal this year is for our kids to just get better each day and prepare for next year when we hopefully have a full season.”

Timberline has remaining SSC 3A matches with Capital (May 26), and Tenino (non-conference) and Yelm (June 2). North Thurston travels to River Ridge (May 26), Curtis (May 29, non-conference) and hosts Capital on June 2.
