A recent study by WalletHub named the City of Lacey as the best small city in Washington State to start a business. In addition, Lacey ranked 138 out of more than 1,300 cities across the U.S.

“We work hard to support our local businesses, especially over the past year,” said Lacey Mayor Andy Ryder. “We want to provide guidance and reduce as many barriers as possible for a business to launch in Lacey. Then, we provide the business owners support and connections to resources to help them prosper and grow. As a small business owner, I’m thankful and proud to be part of such a supportive City.”

To determine the rankings, WalletHub compared 1,337 U.S. cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 across three key areas: business environment, access to resources, and business costs. The study evaluated each of the three key areas using 20 relevant metrics, including average growth in number of small businesses, financing accessibility, job growth, office-space affordability, labor cost, and more.
