Receiving a coveted award nomination is something that every business strives for. Barene DenAdel, CPA in Aberdeen has shaped their small business around the idea of helping their clients meet their needs while allowing them to reach their full potential. Due to this personal business model, Barene DenAdel was recently nominated for Small Business of the Year at the Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. (GGHI) 127th annual Leaders Banquet and Business Recognition Awards.
The Leaders Banquet event was initially created and hosted year after year by the Grays Harbor Chamber of Commerce, however after the Chamber and Economic Development Council merged in 2012, non-profit Greater Grays Harbor, Inc. has run the event. Today’s banquet is mainly an evening designed to showcase, honor and award leaders in the community, but there are additional elements that make the event one of the most well attended in the area. There are expansive silent and live auctions, giving guests a chance to bid on many local and statewide items and excursions. The funds raised assist with the general funds for GGHI, as well as for their Educational Fund that benefits local programs in Grays Harbor including: Aberdeen Business Week, SkillsUSA, Grays Harbor Youth Works and Ocosta Robotics.
The main portion of the Leaders Banquet is the award ceremony. Local community members have the opportunity before the event to nominate the businesses and organizations that they feel are deserving of the following awards: Non-Profit of the Year, New Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year and Large Business of the Year. Once the nominees are submitted and accounted for, the GGHI membership then has the opportunity to cast their final vote on one of the top four nominees. Winners are then announced at the Leaders Banquet at the Quinault Beach Resort and Casino in Ocean Shores.
Being nominated for Small Business of the Year is news that Barene DenAdel does not take lightly. “We’re extremely honored to be nominated for the GGHI Small Business of the Year award,” states Erin DenAdel, managing partner with Barene DenAdel, CPA. “The other three businesses nominated have made incredible contributions to the success of our community and we feel special to be part of this elite group. We definitely are appreciative to be in the top four and be a contender.”
The committed team at Barene DenAdel enables the firm to proactively meet their client’s needs. They pride themselves on the services that they offer to the Grays Harbor community and beyond including full financial services using advanced and up-to-date technology as well as accurate tax advice and preparation. Taking the time to develop meaningful relationships to better understand their clients’ needs is one of the most satisfying aspects of their work. “One of our four core values is impact,” explains Erin. “We’ve lived out this value by focusing this past year on making an impact in the small business community through educational events such as Small Business Technology Seminars and our popular Third Thursdays. Small businesses are the backbone of our community and we firmly believe fostering the growth of small business will make the greatest positive impact in Grays Harbor.”
At the 2018 Leaders Banquet and Business Recognition Awards on October 12, Al’s Humdinger in Hoquiam was awarded with the title of Small Business of the Year. “I’m truly thankful for our great team of employees,” expresses Erin. “We wouldn’t have a chance at this nomination without them. It’s been fun to share this excitement with our staff, clients and biggest fans!”
