Intercity Transit is accepting applications for surplus vanpool vans. Five 12-passenger vans and two seven-passenger vans are available for granting to qualifying non-profit organizations and agencies. Applications are due Friday, November 16 by 4:00 p.m.

Non-profit organizations with 501(c)(3) status and agencies located within and serving residents of the Intercity Transit’s Public Transportation Benefit Area (PBTA), which includes the cities of Olympia, Lacey, Tumwater and Yelm and their urban growth areas, are eligible to apply.

Informational Open Houses

Interested parties are invited to attend an open house on Monday, October 29 from 4 to 5 p.m. or Thursday, November 8 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Intercity Transit’s business office, 526 Pattison Street SE, Olympia. Open houses will provide information about the application process, selection criteria, mileage tracking and van maintenance.

Now in its 15th year, Intercity Transit’s Van Grant program has awarded 54 vehicles to meet the transportation needs of local organizations with financial limitations. Instead of selling them at auction, seven surplus vehicles were awarded last year through a competitive application and review process to the City of Lacey Veterans Services HUB, Community Youth Services, Senior Services for South Sound, TOGETHER!, Yelm Senior Center, Thurston County Food Bank, and Wa-Ya Outdoor Institute.

Application packets will be available at the open houses, online, by calling 360-786-8800, or by emailing vans@intercitytransit.com. For more information about the Van Grant program, contact Carolyn Newsome, Vanpool Program Manager at 360-705-5829 or Dave Kolar, Vanpool Coordinator, at 360-705-5859.
