The Tenino Quarry Pool will open for the 2018 season on Saturday, June 30, 2018 and the first day of swimming is free to the public courtesy of the Sierra Pacific Foundation.

“We are very thankful for, and sincerely appreciate the Sierra Pacific Foundation’s decision to participate in the City’s new ‘Sponsor the Pool’ program because it makes the pool available to those who, for cost reasons, would not otherwise have the opportunity to enjoy this wonderful asset,” says Mayor Wayne Fournier.

Last year, the City created the opportunity for its renowned Quarry Pool to be sponsored by organizations in an effort to increase pool use by making it more affordable for members of the public.  The Quarry Pool is the only public outdoor swimming pool in Thurston County and the surrounding region.

This year, pool users will notice the City’s efforts to improve both the pool and the City Park, where the pool is located.  The City’s Quarry Pool Renovation project will kick off in July when City Public Works crews begin the preparatory work for the installation of larger, more efficient pumps and mechanical filters within the deep end of the pool.  Shallow end operations will continue without interruption.  The work to be performed will be funded by a Community Development Block Grant that is administered by Thurston County with a budget of $297,000.00.  The project is projected to be complete by April of 2019.

Tenino’s Quarry Pool is open Wednesdays through Sundays, from 12:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., holidays excepted.  Please visit the City’s website for additional details:  www.ci.tenino.wa.us
