The Hawks Prairie Rotary has been staging the Pacific Northwest Mushroom Festival successfully for 10 full years. The Hawks Prairie Rotary, through the Festival and it’s sponsors, has consistently brought together vendors, chefs, exhibitors, mushroom tastes from local restaurants, and food trucks every year. About 10,000 people typically attended, mostly from Thurston County but also from within a 30-mile radius and even out-of-state. The Festival has been a fun family-focused community sponsored event and we have thoroughly enjoyed its success. Now, after 10 years, we’ve decided to change up our fundraising plan and focus on the Glow in the Dark Fun Run to be held on July 27.
Why have we been staging the Mushroom Festival? We are a community service organization and we funnel funds raised to North Thurston School District Teacher Recognition Awards, the Homeless Back Pack program, about 50 Real Heroes Scholarships, to the RiverRidge Interact Club, and to many other local and international projects in the name of Rotary – in service and good will. We’ll continue to stage events like the Fun Run to fund these critical programs to help our local community and make a difference for others through Rotary International. See our website to read about our activities and to find out more about upcoming events.
