The Women’s March on Olympia made its debut earlier this year on January 21, 2017.  The State of Washington and Olympia  joined thousands of other sister marches from all over the world to show solidarity to women and marginalized communities who were frustrated with the negative rhetoric of last year’s election campaign.

The Women’s March on Olympia is back for a second year to continue what they started the day after President Trump’s inauguration.  The WM momentum has generated more women to run for office this year in the State of Washington as well as greatly increase the amount of humanistic grassroot organizations that have popped up all over the state.

Hosting a Rally, instead of a March this year, the Women’s March on Olympia have adopted the statewide theme, Washington Women+ Move Mountains, to show the strength of the Pacific Northwest women and trans/non-binary individuals. The Women March on Olympia’s three main goals are to demand “Unity, Equity and Justice for ALL!”, encourage Voter Registration and provide an avenue for Marchers to Get Involved in the community and create change.

The Rally will be held Saturday, January 20th at the Capitol Grounds from 11:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. We have an impressive lineup of speakers and representatives from our local community. The opening ceremonies will be lead by the Nisqually and Squaxin Tribes.

At 12:30 p.m, the Rally will transition to the “Walk for Women” hosted by Oly Embrace and Lead by the Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women of Washington (MMIW). The walk will proceed down the zig zag path behind the Capitol, around Capitol Lake and end at Heritage Park where over 35 local organizations will be set up with information booths to get “Marchers” involved!
