Great make-up can do wonders to improve the appearance of your skin, but what if you could actually change how your skin looks and feels? At Merle Norman Cosmetics, Wigs, and Day Spa in Lacey the team aims to do just that. “Once we get customers using the right skin care products, the rest is a piece of cake. If we’re having to cover up acne or anything else, that’s tough and it doesn’t always look as perfect,” owner Madelin White explains to me.
Throughout the years, she’s helped thousands of women improve their skin, including her own, with the Merle Norman products. As we begin to age, it’s not always as easy to maintain that youthful appearance. However, Madelin makes it look easy and credits her skincare line. “The reason I can honestly say that is over the years I’ve had 80 and 90 year old women whose skin looks absolutely wonderful and they’ve always used Merle Norman.”
Madelin is quick to share a few of her personal beauty secrets with me including an energizing concentrate and fine-line minimizer. Even with a 50 year age difference, Madelin’s granddaughter and store manager, Natasha Beale says she uses the same fine-line minimizer. “The way I see it is it’s easier to prevent than to take away. That’s definitely one thing I’ve learned.” Natasha says often women use the wrong products for their skin types. That’s one of the reasons they don’t do “kits” for oily or dry skin. Madelin adds, “Because no skin is like somebody else’s and I’d rather find out about your skin and about your needs and wants. That’s just the way it works because it’s not one size fits all.”
Merle Norman Cosmetics, Wigs, and Day Spa also offers a full-line of body care products. I tried the body butter, which smelled like grapefruit and was pleased with the fresh, light scent and how quickly it absorbed into my skin.
Also available is a great sunless tanning bronzer that Natasha says shows you the true color right away on your skin. With five different free steam facials also available, it’s easy to spend a couple hours pampering yourself and exploring products. You also won’t be left guessing if you can afford anything as the prices are readily available and very competitive.
As Madelin reminds me once more, it all starts with great skin. “If you don’t take care for your skin, it’s not going to look good. I don’t care how much make-up you put on. And if you take really good care of your skin you can wear less make-up.”
Don’t forget to check out their three awesome hair dressers & massage therapist! Also, a full line of wigs and hair pieces. They give a discount for wigs to cancer patients.
