Lacey City Council Accepting Applications for Vacant Seat

The City of Lacey is accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Lacey City Council, the community’s legislative body responsible for adopting ordinances and policies, approving the budget, and establishing City goals and priorities. The successful applicant, appointed to fill the vacancy, will serve until a qualified person is elected at the next regular election for municipal officers (November 2017).  

Applicants must reside within the City limits for at least one year prior to appointment and be a registered voter of the City at the time of filing his/her declaration of candidacy. All Council positions are non-partisan. City Council members serve the community at large. 

City Council meetings are held every Thursday at 7:00 p.m. Applicants must be willing to commit personal time preparing for and attending Council meetings, intergovernmental committee assignments, and community activities, as needed.   

The successful applicant will have a demonstrated interest and involvement in the community and strong analytical, interpersonal, problem solving, and collaboration skills. All applicants will be asked about their interest in running for election in 2017 to serve the remainder of the unexpired term, which will expire on December 31, 2019.

Application packets will be available on March 20, 2017, at Lacey City Hall, 420 College Street SE, Lacey, Washington 98503 and on the City’s website at ci.lacey.wa.us. A resume and letter of interest may be submitted with the application packet. 

Applications will be accepted until 5:00 p.m. Friday, April 7, 2017. The City Council will hold interviews on Monday, April 17, in the Lacey City Hall Council Chambers. Interviews are open to the public. For more information, contact the City Clerk Office at (360) 491.3214.
