Nearly 190 runners & walkers took part in Mason PUD 3’s October 4 Shuck and Share 5K. The event raised $2,400 for Project Share, an electricity bill assistance program for those in need.
Local runner Chris Carpenter was first place among the men for the second year in a row. Jenna Allred of Shelton won first among women.
The third annual Shuck & Share coincided with the first day of Public Power Week, and the last day of OysterFest. It started at Shelton’s Huff & Puff Trail, and was a mostly dry affair. Participants enjoyed a mostly flat run, which included the newly-paved Brockdale Walking Path.
Full results are available from Peak Performance Timing. The chip timing of the event was sponsored by donations from local businesses and individuals
33 businesses or individuals donated 43 prizes that were raffled off. These raffle prizes were another highlight following the race for the lucky participants.
Race photos by Oberg Photo are available online. The proceeds from all photo purchases will also be donated to Project Share.
Consider donating to Project Share all year long by enrolling in the “Round Up” program. If you’re a PUD 3 customer, you can automatically “Round Up” your monthly electric bill and donate the difference each month.
Save the date for next year’s Shuck & Share 5K: Sunday, October 8, 2017.
