In a cooperative effort, the Olympia Tumwater Foundation’s “Heritage Builders” local history program, the City of Tumwater, and Thurston Community Television (TCTV) have begun producing a series of short videos focusing on various aspects of Tumwater’s rich history. These features are geared towards our more video-oriented modern culture. They are of a length that will hopefully attract a younger audience and entice them to look further into this area’s heritage.
These clips hosted by the author, Don Trosper, feature music and historic photos and are already available on the websites for TCTV local Tumwater channel 26, the City of Tumwater, and the Olympia Tumwater Foundation (click onto the new Blog feature).
Ten episodes are completed at this time and more are planned for 2016. Depending upon the response to these features, Don says, “I have enough material to produce many more of these utilizing the rich resources of the foundation archives at the Schmidt House and the City of Tumwater files from Henderson House. It is great fun and will hopefully be helpful to students at all age and grade levels. I hope it will also attract visitors and tourists as well as local area residents who want to hear more about our special community.”
