It was a matchup of state tournament participants, the top two teams in the 3A Narrows League, and of course, cross town rivals.

Thursday night’s volleyball match between North Thurston High School and Timberline High School was many things.  However, it turned out not to be a close contest, as the Blazers moved to 6-0 on the season by sweeping the Rams 3-0 in the North Thurston High School gymnasium.

Each game was won by the Blazers by a count of 25-15 in front of a big crowd, featuring a large number of both NTHS and THS students.  The second place finishers at the 3A state tournament last season, North Thurston now sits at 4-2 on the season and will have a chance to avenge the loss to Timberline later this month.

Timberline has made the 3A state tournament three consecutive seasons, and appears to be a on a mission to make a deep run towards this year’s championship.
