The Olympia School District Education Foundation (OSDEF) will present Skippyjon Jones, a new musical based on the beloved best-selling children’s book by Judy Schachner. Skippyjon and friends will be in Olympia for two performances on Wednesday May 8, at 1:00 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. at the The Minnaert Center for the Arts at SPSCC.

Skippyjon Jones is a little kitten with big ears and even bigger dreams! Sometimes he pretends to be a bird, sometimes he pretends to be a llama, and sometimes he pretends to be a whale… anything BUT a Siamese cat!

His Mama sends him to his room so that he can think about behaving like the cat he really is. While bouncing on his big boy bed, Skippyjon’s wild imagination takes over again as he catches his reflection in a mirror. This delightful tale follows Skippyjon’s transformation to Skippito Fiskito, a Chihuahua, and the greatest canine sword fighter in old Mexico.

The approximately one-hour production will be enjoyed by pre-school and elementary school-age children. Tickets are $12 available through The Washington Center at washingtoncenter.org or by calling 360-753-8586. Group discount rates are available when purchasing 10 or more tickets.

This is the first annual KidsPlay fundraiser for OSDEF.

“We are so excited to bring some fun family entertainment to the community for parents and kids to enjoy together whose proceeds will go to supporting teachers and kids in Olympia Schools,” said OSDEF Board President Ann Flannigan.

OSDEF is a 501(c)3 registered non-profit organization whose mission is to support and enrich education and remove barriers to learning for students in the Olympia School District. Additional information about the foundation and its programs can be found at osdef.org.
