The South Puget Sound Community College Fire and Emergency Services Technology (FEST) Program recently received accreditation from the International Fire Service Accreditation Congress (IFSAC).

IFSAC is an international, peer-driven organization that accredits fire science-related programs at colleges and universities. IFSAC accreditation indicates the program curriculum, the college, and its faculty work effectively together to achieve their educational mission.

With this accreditation, South Puget Sound Community College becomes the only college in Washington state, and one of only 22 colleges in the world, to offer an IFSAC-accredited associate degree. In addition, the college is one of only three IFSAC-accredited community colleges in the nation to also adopt the U.S. Fire Administration’s Fire and Emergency Services Higher Education (FESHE) model curriculum. Six FESHE courses make up the theoretical core of the program and ensure that students at South Puget Sound enjoy maximum transferability of credits to other higher education institutions offering fire related degree programs.
