Open Class Baking entries due July
30; more baking contests Aug. 2-5
Whether it’s spicy cinnamon or crunchy coconut, a chocolate lover’s dream or a velvety vanilla escape, this year’s assortment of baking contests at the Thurston County Fair offers something special for even the discerning of taste buds.
“The baked goods contests are so much fun, and so mouth-watering. Sometimes I think just looking at all those gorgeous desserts packs on a few pounds!” said Rick Storvick, Thurston County Fair Manager. “But it’s only once a year, so I say indulge and enjoy—contestants of all ages and all abilities are invited to enter their favorite recipe.”
All Open Class Baking entries are due Monday, July 30 between 3 and 7 p.m. to the Heritage Hall. Yeast or quick breads, cakes, cookies, candies, or pies are all welcome. All entries must include the recipe with contestant’s name, address, and phone number. No late entries will be accepted. Final judging for Open Class Baking will take place on July 31, and the winners will be on display in Heritage Hall throughout Fair Week.
