After four busloads of demonstrators from the United Food and Commercial Workers Union, took over the lobby of the Association of Washington Business on Tuesday, and participated in a loud and angry tirade against business,  leadership at AWB has taken a number of precautions.

Expecting more demonstrators, angry at budget cuts,  AWB officials have installed new security systems in and around their building,  increased security patrols, evaluated vulnerable areas and took steps to assure that staff members are safe.

AWB president Don Brunell said that these were emotional times  but “our immediate concern is the safety of our staff and those in our building.”

“It’s a new environment and not likely to change in the near future,” Brunell said.  “Our goal is to work through it as safely and we can and maintain our cool.”
