This workshop is dedicated caring for the soil. In this class, permaculture educator Marisha Auerbach, will guide you through a basic understanding of soil and how to respond to the limiting factors on your site to adapt your soil for success in the garden. We will cover some simple soil tests that you can do at home to learn about your current conditions.
Afterwards, we will discuss and try out strategies for how to use common biological resources to adapt your soil for success in the garden. Strategies will include composting, vermicompost (worm composting), sheet mulching, hugelkultur, and more.
You can join us for just this workshop or come back the following day for our workshop on Garden Bed Preparation and Planning. There is a discount on the ticket price if you sign up for both workshops.
These workshops are associated with the Grow Your Own Produce Workshop series (link in comments), offered monthly on Zoom. In its 10th year, Marisha Auerbach has been offering support for gardeners throughout the Pacific Northwest to help optimize their efforts to cultivate a year round harvest.
