Service for Service: Washington Goes to the Dogs

Washington State Department of Veterans Affairs, Brigadoon Service Dogs and the King County Veterans Program are holding a conference to inform, educate, demystify, and explain the differences between Service Dogs, Emotional Support Dogs, and Therapy Dogs for Veterans.

The conference will be held on Friday, November 22 from 10:00 am – 2:00 pm at Saint Martin’s University Norman Worthington Conference Center in Lacey.

Luis Carlos Montalvan, New York Times best-selling author of Until Tuesday: A Wounded Warrior and the Golden Retriever who Saved Him (2011), is scheduled as the Guest speaker. Wounded warrior Montalvan will share his story of life before and after receiving his service dog Tuesday, bringing to life the laws, training, and therapeutic benefits and challenges of acquiring and maintaining one of these amazing animals.

Bring your questions and come prepared to be moved by the power of Luis’ story and the depth of commitment of people’s best friend.
