Starcia Ague and Sarah Lippek will deliver a Robert A. Harvie Social Justice Lecture on policing with justice and over-incarceration on November 18. The lecture, which is free and open to the public, will begin at 4 p.m. in Harned Hall, Room 110, located on the Saint Martin’s University campus, 5000 Abbey Way SE.

The lecture is titled “Ideas for Policing with Justice and Ending Over-Incarceration.” In recent years, many police officers nationwide have adopted “zero tolerance” policing and roused concern from the public due to racially biased “stop and frisk” practices. Likewise, our nation’s prisons are filled with a disproportionate percentage of people of color.
