It’s estimated that as many as 51 million adults in the United States have suffered from chronic pain. Within the past 3 months, 18 million people have experienced significant limitations to their daily life activities due to the high impact of their pain. Living with untreated or poorly managed chronic pain for longer periods of time is associated with a decreased quality of life, pharmaceutical dependency, and poor emotional health. There is no consistent evidence to support one isolated treatment regimen; however, treatments tailored to the patient’s needs and multimodal care can offer long-term solutions.
