Join Thurston CD’s Clear Choices for Clean Water program and the Capitol Land Trust for a work party as a part of the Puget Sound Regional Orca Recovery Day events. This volunteer work party is one of many locations throughout the South Sound raising awareness and engagement around the current threat to our Southern Resident Killer Whales.
We’ll be working at the CLT’s Harmony Farm Preserve (future home of the Inspiring Kids Preserve) removing Himalayan blackberries and replanting an area where an old barn burned down years ago. This work impacts local water quality and creates a healthy environment for the marine food web to flourish in, benefiting our precious Killer Whales. Tools, gloves, and warm lunch provided (clam chowder from Taylor Shellfish!). Please dress for the weather. Limited on-site parking means we’ll be running shuttles from South Bay Elementary to the work site.
Please RSVP to get your volunteer waiver and further instructions! Nora White, nwhite@thurstoncd.com or 360.754.3588 ext 105
