Clemens Starck, former merchant seaman, retired union carpenter and construction foreman, and the author of six books of poems, will be the featured reader for the Olympia Poetry Network on Wednesday, January 18. The event takes places from 6:30-8:00 p.m. at Traditions Café, 300 5th Ave. SW in downtown Olympia. An Open Mic will precede his reading. Starck is a recipient of the Oregon Book Award as well as the William Stafford Memorial Poetry Award from the Pacific Northwest Booksellers Association. His most recent book is Old Dogs, New Tricks (2016). He lives in the foothills of the Coast Range in western Oregon.
