After rescheduling from a heatwave, Blue Cactus Press is proud to announce a newly reformed one-night only event in collaboration with Olympia author Jonah Barrett and the String and Shadow puppetry theater: Moss Covered Claws Live: From a Pond!
Blue Cactus Press presents a night of live reading, performance, and giant puppetry. Moss Covered Claws Live adapts the short story “Boggy” from Olympian author Jonah Barrett’s debut book, Moss Covered Claws, released March 2021 by Blue Cactus Press. Author Jonah Barrett will be narrating and playing master of ceremonies, while local actors Mandy Ryle, Alice Rosewater, and Austin Bennett portray characters from Barrett’s story.
Local puppeteer troupe String and Shadow bring the titular monster to life with giant creature puppets and set pieces. The one-night show will include a post-show Q&A with the author and actors, as well as a book sale where Blue Cactus Press owner Christina Butcher will be selling copies of Moss Covered Claws.
The event will take place at an urban farm and pond, at 4224 Johnson Point Rd NE on September 12 at 7:00pm. Pay what you can and bring your own seating. BRING YOUR BUG SPRAY TOO!
