South Puget Sound Community College is pleased to host the experimental artworks of internationally recognized artist Margaret Noble in the upcoming Resonating Objects exhibition. Resonating Objects is a series of sculptural sound experiences designed to immerse audiences in artifacts of identity and memory through tactile gestures and ephemeral sonic experiences.
Noble’s work is influenced by the beat-driven dance culture of 1980s southern California, which led her to perform as an electronic music DJ in the underground club community of Chicago. In 2004, she branched out from the dance floor into experimental sound art for new audiences, blending the electronic sound scene with the visual arts community. Noble also created sound works for collaborative projects in video, dance, and object theatre. Over time, her artistic works have evolved into sculpture and installation, influenced by interests in memory, history, narrative, and identity.
The Resonating Objects exhibition runs from September 12 through October 21 at The Gallery at the Kenneth J. Minnaert Center for the Arts. The Gallery is open Monday through Friday from noon to 4 p.m., or by appointment. An opening reception will be held on September 23 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. For more information, email artgallery@spscc.edu, call 360-596-5527, or visit The Gallery online at spscc.edu/gallery.
