Are you looking for a fun useful project? If you have ever done video/photo editing, or streamed a game this is project is for you.

Join us at the Lacey MakerSpace where you will make and program your own video editing encoder wheels. Not only is this a useful computer HID (Human Interface Device), but it can be programmed with custom key codes and more. The wheel can be set for volume, contrast, brightness, scroll wheel and forward/reverse. In this project-based class we will be hand soldering MX style switches and a rotary encoder to an Arduino Pro Micro and adding RGB LED indicator lights for each custom keypad layer. That’s all just day one! On the 2nd day we will dive into the programming and customization side of the keypad. You will get to make your own macros and key combos to customize this device precise to your needs and display any color you choose.

Ticket includes all electronics and parts to complete one keypad project. Please select your preferred color in the free add-ons section when you purchase your ticket. You will also receive an email with a form to verify your color selection after purchase.

NOTE: This is a two-day class over two weekends, Sunday July 17th and Sunday July 24th, 1-4 pm each day. Your ticket purchase covers both days.

Please bring your own laptop computer for the 2nd day. Windows recommended but also possible with Linux machine.

Didn’t quite finish and you need more time to complete your project? Attendees have free access to the equipment for up to one week after class, during open hours.
