Mechanical engineer and robotics scientist, Francisco Valero-Cuevas is a rock star in the classroom. Students describe him as “captivating,” and “passionate about the research.”
He will be in Olympia this month as the keynote speaker for the Latino Youth Summit. Always happy to “talk shop,” he has set aside time, Monday, November 16 from 8:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Olympia Timberland Library to talk about how robotics science is improving lives.
The online newsletter of the University of Southern California, USCNews, describes Valero-Cuevas’s research and its potential pay-offs:
“In his lab, Valero-Cuevas and the students work to design robotic systems that exhibit actual human performance. Their research is drawn from an array of disciplines, including neuroscience, biomechanics and robotics. Valero-Cuevas also works on rehabilitation and restoration tools for occupational therapy and physical therapy, including clinical devices that measure and strengthen the neural and muscular interactions that produce function, thereby improving hand and leg dexterity.”
