Elma, Washington- With Mothers Day around the corner Grays Harbor Raceway is happy to announce an exciting night of racing will be taking place on Saturday May 11th for Ladies Night. All ladies and mothers will have an exclusive special general admission price of $5.00 for the evening. Classes that will be competing include the Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modifieds, Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks, and Hornets while the Northwest Extreme Winged Sprints will be on hand for the first time in 2013.
“This weekend will have some action packed racing with the IMCA Modifieds, Street Stocks and hornets battling it out. We are also excited to have the 2013 debut of the Northwest Extreme Winged Sprints,” commented Nikki Gamell, General Manager of Grays Harbor Raceway, “also this weekend is Ladies Night we are offering a special admission price for all the ladies and moms out there for this weekend. We hope everyone can make it out and watch another great night of racing here at GHR.”
Saturday will mark the first of eight races for the recently created Northwest Extreme Winged Sprints. It is expected to draw cars that normally run at Cottage Grove Speedway, Sunset Speedway and Skagit Speedway in the Sportsman/Limited divisions that have the same rules packages.
The class will introduce some new and upcoming Sprint Car talent to the fans of Grays Harbor. Don’t be surprised to see many of these drivers move up in the future and compete in the 360 ranks or even the American Sprint Car Series-Northwest Region. Last year a race was ran on October 6th that featured Sportsman Sprints and was won by Jesse Thistle. On that same race a healthy car count was on hand and great racing was produced.
In two races there have been two different winners in Shipwreck Beads IMCA Modified action. Scott Miller won the first race in late April while last Saturday two-time and defending track champion Joe German was the victor. German had to come from the back of the field after an object entering his cockpit and hitting hitting battery switch and brought his car to a halt sending him to the rear on the restart.
Only one race has been run in 2013 for the Cut Rate Auto Parts Street Stocks with Jack Parshall earning the victory. The Hornets also have only completed once this year and it was Jeff Daniel earning the triumph.
A friendly reminder that on Saturday May 18th 360 Sprints have been added to the card and the Northwest Wingless Tour have been removed. The Northwest Wingless Tour have been added to schedule on August 24th while the 360 Sprints have been removed on that date.
Saturday night’s admission is Ladies and Moms $5.00, Adults $13.00, Senior (62+)/Juniors (13-18)/Military $10.00, Youths (6-12) $5.00, Youths (5 and Under) FREE, Family Pass (Two Adults and Up To Four Youths) $30.00, and Premium Seating $20.00. Pit gates open at 2:30, front gates, 4:30, and racing starting at 6:30.
The Grays Harbor Raceway is known for its high speeds and side by side racing as well as its large track size. Hosting racing action from April to October regular classes include 360 Sprints, IMCA Modifieds, USAC Ford Focus Midgets, Street Stocks, Hornets, and for the first time the Northwest Extreme Winged Sprint Car Series.
