Take a Walk Through Tumwater’s Pioneer and Brewing Past

Guided walking tours along the Deschutes River in Tumwater Falls Park (110 Deschutes Way SW) will bring to life Tumwater’s pioneer era and it’s brewing history on Wednesdays during the month of September.  Led by a local historian, the Riverwalk Tour begins on Wednesday, September 4 at 10:30 a.m. The half-mile walk follows gently sloping paths along the river, crosses bridges, and descends stairs to view the lower Tumwater Falls.  The tour is free and lasts for about 45 minutes.

Meet at 10:15 a.m. at the Tumwater Falls Park office located on the west side of the Park near Deschutes Way – look for signs.  Tours leave the Park Office at 10:30 a.m. and can accommodate the first 15 people.

Riverwalk Tours run Wednesday, September 4, 11, 18, and 25 in 2013 and resume in May 2014.  This program is offered to the public by the Olympia Tumwater Foundation, a local charitable organization that is best known for the pair of properties it owns and maintains for public use – Tumwater Falls Park and the historic Schmidt House – and the numerous college scholarships it awards to local students each year.
