The Language of Profession: Writing from Who We Are and What We Do is the theme for the Paul Gillie Memorial workshop, Monday evening, February 13. The free event takes place from 7-8:30 p.m. at the Olympia Center, 222 Columbia St. NW. Using terms, phrases and details from any specific type of work or hobby can add depth and character to a poem. Whether you are a scientist, nurse, heavy equipment operator, skier, coin collector, botanist, bird watcher, or whatever else, your poem relies on your experience to be vivid, fascinating and publishable. Poet Joanne Clarkson, nurse and OPN Board Member, will share famous poems and writing exercises to make the ordinary memorable.
