The Tenino FFA Community Garden presents a free garden workshop Saturday, April 23, 2016 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm.  Refreshments will be served.

The workshop will focus on how to grow a vegetable garden in raised beds and include topics such as the best soil types for raised beds, cool and warm season crops, companion planting, what to grow in a “pizza” or “salsa” bed and how to attract pollinators to your garden.

Participants are encouraged to bring in a soil sample from their own gardens to have it tested on the spot.

The workshop will be held at the Community Garden which is located behind the greenhouses, across the street from the baseball field at Howard Street North and West Garfield Avenue.

Presenters include Master Gardeners Sally Ritter Alhadeff and Laurie Pyne and Tenino High School Ag Science Instructor Geraldine Maxfield. The FFA Community Garden was constructed in 2015 and in just 8 raised beds grew and donated over 750 pounds of food its first year.
