Hello, my name is Amaris Newport, I am currently working on a project to bring community and acceptance around death. A little over a year ago I lost my brother due to him getting drunk and shooting himself. His death hit me hard and made me feel as though I was alone and everything in my body seemed to shut down.
My project involves creating that community that involves getting people out in nature where they can have the opportunity to connect to one another and reconnect to nature. My plan is for you to also have an opportunity to sit down and write letters to your loved ones where you can get complete with them and to have the freedom to say whatever needs to be said whether or not it’s from a negative place. I also intend to have people who have gone through the stages of grief to be there as an outlet for those who are currently experiencing the pain of loss. I know death is hard and it the experience varies from person to person and I also think it’s important to know you’re not alone and to have support from people around you.
The March 12 event will be hiking, sharing and writing letters to your loved ones. All are welcome, if you need support in getting there feel free to message the Facebook page and please notify me if you are attending via email or RSVP to the Facebook page.
