The next Caring Kids family volunteer project is collecting items for the SafePlace emergency shelter. Many of the women and children living in this shelter have left abusive situations with few belongings. The donations that we collect through Caring Kids will help them build a new life. Caring Kids will be collecting items from now through January 26th.

We are asking our Caring Kids families to go through their closets and clear them of gently used children’s clothes (sweatpants, sweatshirts, and pajama’s) that don’t fit anymore and/or purchase new items from their Wish List. We’re also encouraging families to reach out to their communities to collect these gently used or new items from their neighbors, family, friends, and colleagues. Items can be dropped off at the Child Care Action Council offices throughout the drive. On January 26th we will come together for our Caring Kids Family project to package the items together in colorful bags the kids decorate. These in-kind gifts go directly to the clients and programs at SafePlace. A full list of needed gently used and new items can be found here: http://www.ccacwa.org/caring-kids

A light snack will be provided to all participants.
About Caring Kids Family Volunteer Program: By volunteering as a family, you are taking an important step toward raising a person who will be sensitive to the needs of others, who will have a head start on the path of giving back to the community, and who will leave the world in a better plan than they found it. Each month, our early learning staff will create a volunteer activity that is age appropriate and engaging for kids 2-5 years old (however, all ages are welcome!). Please note, a parent must accompany their child during the volunteer activity.
