Olympia Surfrider chapter is gearing up for another season of water quality sampling! The Department Of Ecology‘s BEACH program staff will train us on how to collect the samples and explain how the samples are used to help monitor the health and safety of our local waters. Thursday, April 28, from 5:30 to 7 PM at Priest Point Park, soon to be known as Squaxin Park. We will be meeting in Shelter 2. Surfrider’s Blue Water Task Force water sampling program runs from May through August and is a once a week, one hour time commitment. You can sign up to sample as many times as you want or even just once.
This is an all ages activity (although must be able to drive to drop off sample at the lab). Also, if you’re looking for volunteer hours this is an excellent way to get them! We can provide you a certificate at the end of the season if you need documentation.
Stay after the training for a complementary barbecue (vegetarian & vegan options available) and a little socializing with fellow coastal advocates. Please register at the link provided. Hope to see you!
