Olympia’s Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd is offering an outdoor Blessing of the Animals service followed by a free community concert by the Cartoon Orchestra on Sunday August 29, at 1601 North Street, across from Oly High School. The church service begins at 10 a.m., and the performance will begin at approximately 11:15. During the concert all are invited to participate in a short “procession of some of the species” parade around the church grounds. Bring pets for the blessing, participate in the procession, and enjoy the concert by these talented musicians. The procession is open to all (with or without pets), and costumes or props are welcome but optional. We are celebrating ALL God’s creatures.
All are welcome to both the service at 10 and/or the concert/procession at 11:15. Bring your own chairs if you have them, though the church will provide chairs to those who need them. Good Shepherd follows COVID safety protocols for masking and social distancing. All activities take place in our “green cathedral” of tall firs.
