Jim Lynch’s new book, “Before the Wind” is a grand saga of a sailing-obsessed family.  The publisher is calling it a “long-awaited breakthrough.”

The story focuses on three generations of Johannssens. They are boat builders and racers who live to sail. Reviewer Maria Semple writes, “I never expected to be captivated by the world of sailing the way I was with “Before the Wind.” From the first paragraph, I was hooked by Jim Lynch’s language, his humor, his wisdom. The characters are marvelous; the storytelling confident and rollicking; the whole book a delight and a surprise.”

Books will be available for sale at this event. Lynch’s other books, “The Highest Tide,” “Border Songs,” and “Truth Like the Sun,” are available at the Timberland Regional Library in various formats.
